About Tal y Cafn Boarding Kennels and Cattery

Please let us introduce ourselves in order to give you some confidence in choosing to use our kennels and cattery. Aled and Rachel and their five children have devoted their lives to caring for animals of all shapes and sizes; dogs and cats of course along with horses, sheep, chickens and ducks to name but a few. All of which can be seen around Tal y Cafn Kennels and Cattery if you come and visit.

A Rich Heritage of Dog Training

There is a rich heritage of dog training in Aled’s family, including an uncle who was a Welsh National Sheepdog trials champion, and his grandmother who showed Afghan Hounds and also ran a boarding kennels as a young lady. It is little wonder that Aled started training and trialing sheepdogs on our small farm in the beautiful Conwy Valley. He has trained dogs that have gone on to work on the three highest mountains in Wales; Snowdon, Carnedd LLewelyn and Tryfan. Training them to work at great distances from their handler and nurturing their natural ability in order to Shepherd these demanding mountains. It is this love of working with dogs which enabled the natural progression of helping other handlers with their dogs.

Experienced Animal Nutritionist

In order to fulfil our ambition Aled first worked for a Unilever owned company as an animal nutritionist. He later went on to lecture in livestock nutrition and also lectured in kennel and cattery management.

In 2001 we built and opened Tal y Cafn Kennels. No expense was spared and using all our knowledge and practical experience has resulted in hygienic, safe, spacious rooms for all breeds and sizes of dogs. We have continued to build and develop our kennels and maintain them to the highest standard.

Responding to our Loyal Customers

In 2006 we responded to our loyal customers request to care for their cats to the same high standard and comfort as their dogs. Once planning was granted we built a totally separate purpose built cattery with under floor heating, central conservatory with plants and natural light and windows in each room for those who want linked rooms. Again we went above and beyond the necessary requirements with all our cats enjoying large spacious warm rooms.

Small animals of all description have also come to stay from rabbits and guinea pigs to hedgehogs and rats along with chickens and gerbils.  All are welcome and Tal y Cafn.

Your peace of mind is our aim.
